UNIQUE TEACHING METHODOLOGY
Our overarching aim is to enable pupils to achieve their personal best and to fulfill their potential, we achieve this by developing different learning styles and by reinforcing a belief in themselves that they can achieve something of value. Our staff work hard to enable all pupils to directly access the curriculum and, to assist this goal, we try to cater for additional educational support requirements wherever possible.
The philosophy of the SWS is to respect individual differences and cultures, to share knowledge, and then to work together to achieve high academic standards within the School system.
The Learning Support team work closely with Pastoral and Academic colleagues to ensure that a united, caring whole-school approach is maintained at all times. We acknowledge that it is the responsibility of everyone in the School to ensure that those with greatest differences are integrated, celebrated and catered for.
Emphasis is given to all four English language skills – listening, reading speaking and writing.
The traditional “chalk and talk” method of teaching that’s persisted for hundreds of years is now acquiring inferior results when compared with the more modern and revolutionary teaching methods that are available for use in schools today. Greater student interaction is encouraged, the boundaries of authority are being broken down, and a focus on enjoyment over grades is emphasized.
